Old to New....

I am sharing the finished product first. The new roof looks really good.  It needs some hot sunshine on it to level it off to being stuck down.  It was a long day from start to finish with all of the noise of the dropping of felt paper rolls and new shingles onto the roof. It was like bombs going off.

The old shingles were removed and tossed into a large bin while they leaned out over the one roof of the garage. This is the crane that came in to lift the new shingles up to the roof.  The mess was worse than this as the wrappers to all the shingles ended up down here on the ground.

Our house looks like a small one story ranch but when you see it from the back side it  is a two story house. The shingles on the three year sun room were removed so all the shingles would match.  The tearing off of the shingles took only about an hour as there were six or eight men here doing the work.  Tearing things up is faster than the orderly placement of new shingles.

They were nice men. The first one I talked to in the morning was not a solid English speaking person but he was checking to be sure that they had the right  address before they started working.  When I pointed to the roof and said you're here to do my roof, he smiled with a wide smile. The only fatality was that they removed  the dish, which I had given them permission to do.  But I didn't think they would by mistake reinstall it into the opposite direction.  The dish is set up to a certain direction and this is not the right way.  My box said to me did you move your dish?  The dishes that are on all the houses below us are pointing in the same direction but ours was installed pointing in the opposite direction.  Saturday morning the cable guy will come and reconfigure it or have to turn it around.  I really don't want them to put new holes into the roof.

The only one thing that I had left that didn't get picked up was this one piece.  They did a good job of clearing things away.

The hail storms of the past few years had damaged my roof but we just now finally got it replaced. I am glad the process is all done.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Having shingled a roof or two, that looks good. Nice looking house too.
