The moon looked like this as of June 1st. The clouds have been a problem most nights so I take shots when I can. The smoke haze doesn't bother my camera but most partial clouds mean I have to wait until they pass.
The rain amounts were not great but the water does a number on the peonies. This is the best looking one of all of mine as the most are all on the ground and are falling to pieces.
It was a nice sunny day. This is the view that I have as I sit for a rest between mowing the front yards. I didn't get the shot of the chipmunk but he did go by under me while I was sitting there. The backyard gets mowed in the next couple of days.
My hardy geranium is putting out lots of new blooms. It spent the winter inside but now is enjoying its second season. I planted some petunias in the box with it and things are looking better as everything matures.
In the old days you could go and pick the exact color of petunia that you want. These days Wallymart picks and chooses what colors you can have and the choices are limited. I do remember when I was young that there use to be only once choice of petunia color and it was a yellow orange color. More orange than yellowish and yet it was not pure orange.
The soil was a packed clay one. I guess the construction people brought in soil for my neighbors back yard and this area got a lot of it, with it overlapping onto my property. I had a very difficult time getting my spade into the ground. I don't do a very orderly plan whrn planting iris but they tend to do their own thing after they get started. The fence was so close to the iris and the rose bush that I could barely get into the area to dig it out of there. Some of them I could just pull up without digging. I dig and move iris at any season as they seem to be tough even during the hot summer when they are planted.
My last historic, cemetery iris is looking good. It is the last one to bloom as it is in partial shade. I have to keep clearing out the lily of the valley that grows around to keep it going. I would like to move a part of it to another location to make sure I never lose the plant.
It was a busy day today and if the weather holds I plan to have another good work day. Thanks for stopping by today.
