Tuesday's Things....

One of my favorite ornaments is the glass blown wreath. It was a specialty one purchased, packed in its own box. The ribbon has held up well.

In sharp contrast is this soft sculpture of a wreath.  It is hand made of all the circular pieces and drawn into a wreath shape. Unfortunately I do not remember who made this. We have had it a long time.  I like seeing the different prints of the cloth showing its history by the patterns on the different pieces of cloth.  I did count them and there are sixteen of the little puffs.

The olive wood carvings are now displayed all together for the season.  We actually visited The Holy Land Gifts in Israel in 2019.  It is located on the edge of Bethlehem. The unusual thing about it is they are converted Christians who own the business and it sits in the Arab controlled part of Israel. Our bus had to cross through guard stations to get to Bethlehem city.  Our Jewish guide did not go with us that day to visit.  A few Christian business are also owned in the area and they are tolerated but otherwise are living in a unfriendly territory. The Arabs run the territory in which the two churches sit that of the site of the birth of Jesus.

We bought a couple of the pieces while we were there.  Our oldest son goes to the  downtown Chicago Christmas market and buys us gifts made from the same store.  The artists who carve these piece work in the basement of this large store and one can see down the stairway all of the olive wood logs ready for carving. This is the first year that we put these all together in one place. The camels are new from last Christmas.

A Christmas card from our youngest son and his wife shows the area they visited this fall. Alaska is a popular place to travel on cruise boars.

We are having sunshine today with a little bit warmer temps. I haven't been out yet but will go get the mail soon. Our grass almost looks green again in spite of the lack of rain for months.  Our little snow really didn't help much.  Thanks for checking in today.

The Nativity sets are stunning, what incredible workmanship.
That Christmas card is so serene and calming, what a wonderful plave to call home.

It takes a lot of talent to carve figures like that. They are beautiful.
