Thursday, Thursday......

It seems to have been a long day. Went for groceries this morning and trimmed grass around the property this afternoon. I bought a new gas powered weed eater. I am really trying to like it but I don't. I spend more time messing with the string and figuring out how to get the strings to lenghten.  I don't like the balance of the machine and I really don't like how the head of it works.  Unless I am being completely confused I cant get the trimmer wire to really work.  It is too busy at Ace to go back and get some instruction from someone.  At this point I would never recommend the product.

Our one packing plant finally released the numbers of those infected with the virus a couple of days ago. Only 830 people were infected by the disease. I am being sarcastic as it amazes me that they didn't want to tell the numbers and withheld the info for a very long time.  Half of the worker force have it, had it, or are carriers. The packing plant is eight miles from our older home that we still own.  The nursing homes in the area are also in trouble.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Middle of the week, late afternoon........

Soft clouds moving around and they are not going to rain on us. The temperatures are cold for normal spring weather.

I did get  my back yard mowed this morning but needed to wear a coat. The grass was too long but it never stopped raining for a long time.

I did sneak out to see if it was too cloudy and it was to take a photo.  An yet there was a opening at just the right time in the clouds so I could catch this photo.
Another flower that is now in season is this glove allium.  They are not so robust this year as the ice storm and frost really did do some damage.  The leaves are not looking good so the glower just stands up out on its own.

I talked to one of my neighbors this morning as he was stepping outside to shake dust off his cloth.  I haven't seen him, or talked to him for a month. He and his wife were doing fine but are getting tired of restrictions. We do see them at a distance as they go out into the back yard with their dog regularly.

I am blogging late today because google was holding my new photos hostage.  I could see them downloaded but they wouldn't show up when I went through the blogger program.

This is the area of my garden in which the voles devoured all plant life. They lived under a dome of dirt all winter with snow covering them. The neighbor took out two adult voles about a month ago..  After the snow melted the soil did cave back down and I really don't see any of the plants that had been there. The neighbors garden is covered with the plastic and heavy rocks. I may have to match that and just walk away from the area.  I have pellets that are called VoleX. I will wait and watch to see what happens with that treatment.  My new peonies don't have any damage to them and I am going to see some blooms on them.

Started blogging late so I will just cut this short.  Thanks for checking in today.

Tuesday's Things....

This is one of my more exciting host plants. I have it planted in two different locations. I moved it down to the newer house.

The locust tree is slow to leaf out but when it does it is very striking in looks. The leaf patterns are more like fern leaf shapesd

It is lightly raining and seems to be doing so for most of the day. The deck is wet and t makes it shine out with the water on it.

I was out looking at the garden and our soil is really dry. I was trying to use a hoe in a flower garden area and it was hard to break up.

The allium looks more pink here but will be more purple as it opens up more. I planted a couple of stray bulb out in the front raised bed and it looks good against the bluebells.

I know better than plant tulips one at a time in a straight row but it must have been cold outside and I was in a hurry. They definitely did get planted in a straight row.

I planted vole pellets yesterday in my one corner garden.  During the fall and winter they invaded the area and they have destroyed the Imost of the garden corner.  The liatrias in that corner appear to have been all eaten up by the vole. They burrow under plants and eat the tubers and roots of everything around. The neighbor captured two of them in the early spring as the snow was melting away but I am betting that there were more of them. The pellets that I bought look like livestock feed.  I think they have something in it to repel them and make them sick to their stomachs. I will work on that all spring. I am discouraged as it was a good planting of flowers.  I think I lost some of the bulb plants like tiger lily.  I was grumbling that I might just put it back into grass or maybe plastic with rocks, no plants.

The flowering trees don't stay around for very long. The leaves fill in quickly and the flowers are subordinate to everything.  Thanks for stopping by today.  It is good to get rain so I don't have to finish mowing my yard.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Monday's a Go.....

The head is blurred as the goldfinch is working on a sunflower seed.  I took this yesterday and I have yet to see it return to my feeders today. The male bird has really grown out its bright yellow flowers.

The front terrace is doing well but the roses need to start blooming to help brighten things up. They all did survive the winter.
My oxalis bloom toward the light and here you can see them from outside on the deck.

I had to dig this out from my past.  I apparently didn't get it downloaded.
Flowers from the old place. I planted a lot of varieties every year a new one at those gardens. I need to remember to do that this fall with some new and different kind.

We are off to take our friend to the doctor again today.  It is kind of a gray day and rain may be in order.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Sunny Day on a Sun Day.......

There is a lot of darkness around the moon so I didn't crop so much of it out today. It is a better shot with the street light distanced from the camera.

Another weather shot as the clouds are being moved around quickly. Today the sky is filled with lighter clouds that are moving east.

The red twig dogwood is doing well in its spot in the front yard. I like how it isn't just a plain bush but is very decorative.  The grass is growing back in this area but I think I will still plant a bed of geraniums here anyway. The hosta survived and will look good this summer.
I appreciate this winding street and just took a photo. It does drive me crazy that the house sits crooked with the straight north/south but I will just have to live with it. My neighbor to the southish is on a wedge so his house doesn't line up with our house. We are closer in the front but it widens as we compare the distance in the back of the houses.

Early morning with clouds but it has cleared some now.

This shot gives you a better perspective as how the stairs fits in to the potting bench area. I am anxious to lay down the last three rows of the concrete squares to complete the patio. I am not looking forward to the energy that is required  to lay the 15 squares down.

I hope everyone is doing well. I wish you all to have a good day.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Saturday's a Satisfying Day..

The white flowers against the green leaves has a really sparkle to it as making the leaves look brighter.

There is now a problem.  I may have to shorten the white spout and let it drain into the rock bed. I guess I   could dig it out and move some of it over to the right.  It really is a good problem as I can separate out some of the hosta and move to another location.

I am going to have ten blooms this year with the fern leafed peony. I though the snow and ice had damaged most of this but it did come out of it.  I think that it is established now and I can be assured I have a successful move from one place to another.

Home made brackets from recycled wood.

These posts are under the new deck area above. All of the posts on the whole project were all square with the world, but these two had twists in them.  He must have used his warped one for this area.

I now need to extend my patio over to go under this. I can do three more rows of five and it will hit right to the front of the posts. I think I will get some lattice for the open window at the top. I don't know when I will ever get out of here.  I built this with all recycled wood from the old place. I also used some boards that I had bought for the trundle bed to help support the box spring that I still can't go buy.

It is a gray day today but it is warmer.  People are out working in the yards or playing with their kids or dogs. I heard one of my neighbors mowing a while ago. I don't think I will do that until Monday.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Fried Out Day......

I ventured out to buy our weekly groceries this morning.  It was not crowded.  Following the arrows when it isn't busy is crazy. They talked about meat going into scarcity so today the packaged meat was so minimal. Chicken was bought up and the beef wasn't out for sale.  Lots of hamburger was there and I am betting they are saving the meat back for their counter where they hand wrapped it for the customers.

We were predicted to have a hot day but it is cloudy and cold instead.  It may get 76 degrees but I do doubt it.  I am trying to design and build a potting shelf but am having difficulty. Maybe today I can do it.  I just couldn't cut a board as I could not figure out how to make it work.  I did look up things on the net and found a bracket that I could make for supports for the shelf.

Our Ella turns one year old today.  She is such a sweetie. She is not walking but she will be soon. She explores a lot, crawls very fast, and pulls herself up on everything.  Our son sent this action filled photos.

Thanks for stopping by today.
