Thursday's Sharing.....

Random acts of design applications results in a birdhouse like this.  Its not arts and crafts but it is overly decorated just because I wanted to fill every space. The heads of the nails add to the crafty creation.

My tulip painting reminds of spring. My new neighbors to the south will enjoy seeing the some fifty plus tulips that are now planted in the strip garden next to their driveway. I like the Rembrandt tulips but this year I added to that grouping of a few plain color ones.  I don't remember what the colors really are but I do know that I blogged the package last fall. If I add a few each year then I have a larger show.

My wife's painting also reminds me of spring as the iris season starts. I planted four new varieties that were shared with me from the neighbors who moved away.  They took samples of their great collection and dug four extras for me.  One of them will be pink which I have never had and also an all yellow.  I don't remember the other two but their blooming will give me a good idea what they were.  The new neighbors from Denver will be pleased when they see the established garden of iris on their hill that the purchased with their house.

I got a pop up valentine form my wife this year.  It is on the theme of Lady and the Tramp. The two are eating spaghetti together with an Italian man singing a song to them, they call it Bella Notte.  We did eat at Olive Garden last night and my wife got spaghetti with here chicken parmigiana.  I could eat steak and ate half of my alfredo noodles.  Pasta and bread sticks are bad for my blood numbers but I did eat thinks in moderation.  It was fun to set out among the huge crowd and watch the food come flying out of the kitten continually.

We have a sunny day today but the clear sky gives us cold temperatures.  We were at 26° F. this morning and it is going to be a slow time warming up for sure.  We take what we can get with the weather.  Thanks for stopping in today.

Middle of the Week....

They do all look similar but they are not the same. I had to hurry to capture this and then my camera shut down right after the shot. The battery went dead and I didn't really know if it had captured the sky.  The sun is moving to the left in each of these photos for sure so they are not all the same.

I had not been seeing the house finches for quite a long time. About a week ago they started showing up to my feeders again.  I have seen the house finches on my camera just as often as the sparrows.

The big bird in the camera of course is a fox squirrel. He discovered that there is water in the cup and is helping himself. The design of the camera feeder is made strong with a metal bracket holding it in position.

We are headed to an Italian place for an early supper.  We haven't been there for a very long time so it will be fun to return. They have great salad and bread sticks.  I won't get to eat much pasta but I am going to go high protein and a few vegetables on the side.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Worth Many Words...

A pastel painting of a white tiger by my wife, Della. Her mother did an ink drawing 70 years or more and I framed it for us to appreciate. A place on Lake Superior where we would sit and eat breakfast, looking out at this view. It was on an Indian reservation in northern Minnesota.

Aa I paint I find photos of things that inspire me. I really like this work of a European looking house with flowers and trees.  It is one of my favorites but don't tell anyone that I never really finished it. I think I painted it in the summer and then had to stop to go back to school and start teaching.

It is late in the day and I almost forgot to blog. I will use less words and just post it. Thanks for checking in today.

Candid Camera.....

The bird monitor works great for squirrels too. We don't see this guy very often so we are glad to see him.

The birds are coming to be photographed also. The weather is cold and they are hungry again. We were up to 48° F. today.  The sun is shining but it is cold.

When I filled my tube feeder with mostly millet the sparrows cleared it out in two days. I skip days to make them clean up the mess of seed that they leave on the deck.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Sunday's Stuff....

My creations from the Covid era when I was locked in for a year.  I spent a lot of time in my shop cutting up scrap wood and making unique bird houses.  I did fourteen different ones during that winter. I put some of them outside but they don't weather very well. So I put them out under a protective area under the sun room roof and they get minimal weathering.

Our neighbor's black dog is standing at the door, scratching to get inside.  We see him and his French bulldog buddy outside in the mornings. For some reason we haven't seen them for a week but we were glad to see this guy again. The shot through the screenwire gives us a special filter effect.

We started off at 26° F. this morning. The clouds were beautiful as the reacted to all that cold air.  We are moving back into winter weather as our high is 46° F. today.  Our week is promised to be lower than that through the week,  At least the snow is gone and nothing is forecast for the future. The covid era got us started livestreaming and we hadn't returned live, walking into the actual building.  Thanks for stopping in today.

Saturday's Sunshine......

The view this Saturday morning shows a promising day of a good weather. It actually is below freezing this morning though. The earth is tilting back now as the sun is in view again for me.  It has been coming up behind the house on the right and I would see it coming up over the roof of the neighbor's house. Each morning I have been seeing the sun showing up farther to the left of the horizon.

We were a little warmer yesterday and the day was mild and warm. There was not a bird in sight for most of the day.  This morning we were having below freezing weather and the birds were flocking the feeder.

I didn't have quite the right kind of seed in the tube feeder so I ditched a lot of the ground corn into a tray feeder. The cheap millet is beter for them and sometimes a sunflower thrown in isn't too bad.

It is Saturday and we have no plans. It is good to have a blank day and things can just happen or get done when it shows up.  Thanks for stopping in today.

Dusty Things....

The snow is almost gone. Some places where snow was piled high is still there but my yard is free of snow. My shelving area that holds the garden things are all just sitting there resting. Saved seeds and leftover packets are resting. I was down in the storage room and saw still life settings everywhere.

Jars of harvested seed and staying cool and dry. The area is my catch all storage because you can't have enough draws that specialized.

Jars of the past and lamp flus that I just could not throw away when we made the move. The bean pot is worthless for us now as I can't eat high carboydrates anymore. I think I have one bean pot on display above my kitchen cupboards and two would be not necessary.  I should have a garage sale where everything is free.

We are back to winter temperatures today with a high of maybe 46° F. A winter coat is still needed. I am cold right now from being out to the mailbox. Thanks for stopping by today.
