This is just a spot to visit, of one who is on a journey. You can see my projects, plants, family, pets, artworks, antiques and anything else that comes along.

Saturday's Short Blog...........
A bright red leaf against my green grass. It has to be a neighbor's leaf as I don't have red maples on that side of the house.
Another rose hip on the old fashion plant. There were very few on the roses this year. I plant to trim them all down this year and let them get a fresh start next spring.
It is a warm looking day outside but really isn't that warm. I worked on the paint job of the south side of our house this morning while wearing three layers of shirts. I am scraping off old paint and putting a coat of white primer on it. I found also that I have to reattach a lot of the siding that is over 100 years old, putting it back up against the house. The original boards were attached with the square nail and they have rusted and reduced in size. Nailing the siding has made the whole side of the house look better.
We are off on an errand this afternoon taking our neighbor lady to Boone for a time of eating and shopping at the Walmart. I am late blogging today but I did think I needed to get some work done first. I hope all is well with everyone. Thanks for stopping in today.

Friday........
I certainly don't need any more plants. I saw this at the store and it did need me to take care of it. I like buying these small plants and watch them grow. I may go ahead and put it into a bigger pot as it is in a paper cup like pot and it would like to increase in size roots and all. I haven't had a spider plant for quite a few years.
Another nice shot of the birch tree. They are such a beautiful tree from the white bark, dark brown smaller branches and vivid yellow and green leaves.
Another day in the science room and it is now Friday. I am glad that it is here. It is cooler today than the weather people were expecting. I am glad it is not colder and that it just feels like fall. Thanks for stopping by my posting today.

Thursday's Things......
One last bloom stands amongst the destruction. The rest of the field of flowers are all dead. Once in a while I can see a finch pulling seeds from the seed heads.
If I have the time I do clear off the flowers in the fall. Sometimes when I don't they make a great set of sculptures in the snow. With the sunflowers all leaning sideways or broken off from their stems, it looks like a graveyard. The tomatoes and zinnias next them are still pretty much green.
I have so many shots of my one birch by the house that I will just add them one each day. The white of the birch reflects its surrounding colors and at this time the yellow of the leaves is very powerful.
Back at school today and I am glad it is Thursday. The whole week gets to be long but we are all learning willingly and not so willingly. Geological time lines are getting done and the study of chlorophyll continues. We will be done with a lot of these units and have to move on to new things in Science. Thank you for stopping by today.

In the Middle of the Week.......
The wind did the job for me to help me harvest this one sunflower. It was snapped off in the middle of the stem and laying on the ground. I snapped off another but the rest need me to get larger shears or a trim saw to remove the rest of them still standing.
The window in my computer room area is looking great with yellow light. The oxalis has been brought in and this one looks healthy against the birch tree leaves in the background. The sun was shinning in the afternoon and the birch tree was glowing yellow. I have many photos of it.
The birch tree has grown so big that I can not take its picture from bottom of the trunk to the top of the tree while in my yard. I did not feel like taking the photo of the whole tree by going across the street. It likes living in this spot in my yard. I really like taking the shots of the white bark peaking through the leaves.
It is Wednesday and that means a shortened day for school. I don't have to go to meetings so it is nice to get out of school early. We have a few errands to do and then I might hit the back of the house, scraping old paint off of the surface.
I am surviving this teaching gig but I have really had to learn the material. I am reading ahead of the kids to keep things going in the room.
Thanks for stopping in today.

Next Door Color.........
The maple next door always gives us a great show and I don't have to rake many of the leaves. It is a beautiful tree and there are two more in their yard.
The burning bushes keep giving me great shots of color. The one bush has hundreds of berries and the one next to it is not putting out many berries.
The birch tree in front of our bay window gives us a great show each fall. They are turning quickly now and when the light shines through them it is a stronger yellow color. We are studying photosynthesis in Biology so I am getting my fill of teaching about chloroplasts, glycolisis, and ATP storage. It is a lot more than I need to know at my age. We have stopped receiving rain and will now have sunshine for the rest of the day. I am blogging late today and the sun shines into my classroom helping to warm the room. Thanks for stopping by today.

Monday, Monday just............
I was so interrupted with life that I finally made it to the berry patch late Saturday evening. I was able to pick another 2 cups of them I washed them and placed them on a cookie sheet to freezen them. They were bagged up on Sunday. I didn't do an exact measuring but I am pretty certain that they would fill the two cup measuring cup with a few left over. They do cook down so it doesn't matter if they are not exactly 2 cups.
Fall in my orchard forest looks like this. It doesn't stay this way for long as some of the trees really start to drop their leaves quickly. The blurry looking burning bush is in the foreground. The river birch and apple trees are in the back ground. The poplar tree is on the right.
Bacon and tomato sandwiches are so good. We rarely buy bacon but once in the fall we will make the sandwich with homemade toasted bread and crisp fried bacon. This is the last batch of tomatoes that I picked and so when they are gone the salads will slow down and the blt's will also slow down. The tomatoes left out on vine right now are all split from weather changes. I will cut down the vines this year unlike last year. I did clear them in the spring this spring and immediately planted again.
It is a struggle for this iris but it is putting out a green sprout in the middle of it. I had to go through all of the ones in the store and this is the only one left that had any life still in it. It does look sick but it may get to looking better by the time snow starts falling.
Monday morning in the science room and we are so busy. It is easy for students to find distractions and some just are never tuned in for the day. My gold fish survived the weekend and crawdad from the other tank committed suicide. He crawled up the side of the tank and was found dead and dried out on the floor. We are foggy and wet today and it is suppose to rain later today. Thanks for stopping by today.

Sunday's Shots..........
Zinnia's in this patch are looking pretty rugged. I guess I need to think about collecting seeds but I will wait to do it as late as possible in the season before the seeds fall on the ground. My largest sunflower is dropping chunks of seeds onto the ground so I will cut that down this afternoon to save the seeds.
A tomato grouping that I picked late Saturday. There were a few dozen of different sizes that I could place in a plastic grocery sack to bring into the hous.
The birch tree shows the changes happening and each day it turns more yellow. I will have to take another photo soon as it changes so quickly.
Thanks for stopping by my spot today. I wish you all well.
