Rhubarb.........
I can taste it now, sweet and sour rhubarb cobbler, maybe with some nuts and apples added in to make it taste so great.
Have a great weekend.......thanks for stopping by.

That sounds so tasty, Larry! John speaks of his grandma making rhubarb/strawberry cobbler. I have never tasted rhubarb. Wishing you and Della a nice weekend.
It makes me wonder about what rhubarb is like...does it taste like lettuce? Being Asian, the leafy veggies common in our table are water spinach, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, sweet potato leaves...but never did I ever heard about rhubarb in the past.
Rhubarb is very strand filled and is hard to cut unless you knife if very sharp. The leaves are poisonous but the stalks are like a tough celery. The flavor is very green and sour. With lots of sugar added it becomes a good, tart flavored taste. Too little sugar and your mouth will behave the same way as a sour grapefruit. It tastes good with the combo of a crust that gives a great contrast. Sometimes we add cinnamon and another fruit like apple or strawberries to tame it down.
I am a bit of an oddball. I love eating rhubarb raw with salt on it. My dad has always had a huge patch of it and I always raid his rhubarb and green tomatoes when I go home for a visit. He doesn't mind sharing the rhubarb but I have to steal the green tomatoes!! shhhhhhh.....

I've never had rhubarb cobbler either, but you certainly make it sound delicious! :-)
It's so nice to see the new plant shoots finally coming out of the ground, isn't it? Yay!

Larry, your rhubarb is further along than mine, which are only just breaking the surface. I can't wait to make sauce! Yum.
Rhubarb is good however it is prepared..as a kid I liked the red stalks all by themselves..it will pucker you up!! :)
I remember having rhubarb growing in our garden when I was growing up. My mom used to bake with it, but I don't think I've ever tried it.
Salamat po (thank you) for the information on rhubarb. :)
Beautiful picture! I love rhubarb pie best with orange juice/zest in it. Yum!
