We arrived at the old house and things had changed. Our neighbors house had all four of their red maples completely cut down. All the the remains of those trees are all lined up along the street.
When we left today our street was looking the same as across the street. Our secret weapon today was a guy and his wife were in our yard cutting up the fallen branches and six or seven kids were with them. Young teens were dragging branches and the man was a wonder with his chain saw. The woman was our neighbor girl that lived across the street. We watched her grow up and I did have her as a student. She eventually ended up traveling to New Zealand, married and had two boys. They came back to Iowa a few years back. They were a real blessing. We don't stay bur half a day as we get exhausted and the heat and humidity is bad. We will return tomorrow to see what they did that afternoon. Needless to say I will be sending them a check to help them out and show appreciation.
I need to decide to fate of this gate and cover. I think I will take the cover away and throw it away. The wind moved the fence and poles around and all is crooked there. If it is not fixable I will have to get rid of the gate and the section to the left of it.
The newest rose that we bought for our anniversary is slot to bloom. The color of it is nice and the Japnese beetles don't see to bother the rose.
We are very tired again today but we are feeling better about our disaster of trees. I thank you for stopping by today.

What a mess...and what a blessing to have neighbors like that.
So sad to see those beautiful trees all destroyed.
What a lovely rose, the color is so soft and delicate.
