Trudging Through.......

Chives do bloom at this time of the yea. They have pretty flowers.  We have baked potatoes often so I go down and trim off from the different plantings.

The blue spruce is putting out its new growth buds. The grow so subtly and yet it just keep growing bigger.

I mowed the entire yard yesterday so I am dragging around the house today. I have never had a good looking yard so I am pretty happy with the lawn service.  I had a real mess underneath the two front trees. My one neighbor made fun of the grass condition.  I am thinkig he thought I should cut down the trees.  No, the lawn service has fixe that problem and the grass under the trees is great now.

We took our friend to the hospital for a test today.  She really had problems with the test and they had to stop it. She was very unhappy with the people and we were sad that things were not better for her. I am not sure if there is an a different kind of test available.

We are having a few rain storms today. Thanks for stopping by today.

MIddle of the Week.......

An abstract arrangement of tulips from the old place's gardens. I had not been there eleven days and the rest of the tulips were now in bloom.

There was a story out among the blogging cousins that my grandmother Burgus always had something stuck in water trying to start new plants.  I knew her in her older years and she was mentally less organized to be braking off parts of plants and trying to root them.  My begonias are doing well with lots of roots.  I have some pussy willow branches that I brought in to get them to bloom quicker.  The problem is that I don't really want to plant anymore on my   property.  I will probably have to toss them.  I don't think starting plants is hereditary but I just like to start new ones, like my now larger jade plant.

I did remember that I transplanted this to the back yard from the front. I then actually remembered that it is buttercups  It is the first time that it has been back there but it did take off once planted. It was a flower on the property but I had to learn what it was.
Lots of things were in bloom at the old place yesterday. The honeysuckle was looking outstanding.  The weather must have been perfect for it.  I remember when I planted those in a row that the neighbor lady across the street questioned my wisdom.  I wanted privacy in the backyard. I have never regretted planting those twelve inch sprigs of honeysuckle about five feet apart.  That had to be in the early 1980s.  That couple are both long gone and I bet five os six different sets of people lived there since

We seem to be well and good.  I mowed the home yard today so I have done enough moving for a week.  Thanks for stopping in today.

Tuesday's Works.....

I have lilacs blooming at the old place. They are not full out yet but I could smell them while I was mowing. I didn't move lilacs to the new place so it was nice to see these in bloom.

When I transplant things I try to leave a lot of the original for the future people.  It has this one single bloom right now but it looks like there are a few more buds are there.

This fern leafed peony at the old place is on the south side of the house and it really likes it there.

This is a nice photo of the bleeding heart plant at the new place.  What is pathetic is the weather has taken out most of the blooms. This branch was under another adjoining plant was was protected from the weather.

My peony here at home was wrecked by the weather.  I used the worn pathetic before and I still think it applies here too. That is the difficulty about some plants as they bloom for a short time and if they don't get it to happen, then one waits another whole year to see it try again.

I mowed for a long time today at the old place and now am feeling pressured to get my front yard mowed here at home. Everyone but me has their yards now mowed.  We were cold most of the day and wearing layers were required this morning.

As I study our state's condition with  the virus, things are still bad. The two top age groups have ended up being the top victims of this disease.  Most people died were 61 years or older. Eighty percent of all deaths were of people over that age. If the core group of a younger group was the majority the people would be outraged and want answers. This situation seems to not be of any concern as 10 or 12 people, older ones, die each day. I do think there will need to be an understanding of the pandemic as the months move on.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Monday Report......

My neighbor and I are not mowing at the exact same times. He mowed on Friday and I can barely see the difference of the height.  I don't feel obligated to mow on the same day.  We can sometimes bth get on a weekend schedule of mowing but I got scrambled becaus two days of mist and or rain.

I need to give this a trim also.  I need to do it in small parts rather than shear it off like dog with a bad haircut.

We are busy today helping my wife's friend with her various hospital appointments. Ir is strange that they have here with three different appoints all on the same day.  A chemo therapy session is set in the middle of the other two.

Everyone take care.

Mother's Day Orchid......

A smaller size of orchid looks good in the sun room light. There are some buds that have yet to bloom.  That is the way that I like to buy them.  I bought this for my wife a day or two ago after spending a long time looking at them. The larger orchids were all in full bloom from both ends of their stem.

The Weekend......

An exciting find is two of my jack in the pulpit plants. They were tromped down by work men last year at this time.  The lily of the valley was not phased from the treatment. The pulpits were not showing up yet but I saw yesterday the beginning of new plants. I see that I lost nothing.

My wife was explaining to me that we need to keep our lens clean to get the best photos.  She was correct as this shot is all speckled with dust on the lens.

I don't have man of the wild violets on the property.  I am certain that I moved this here when I moved iris plants. It does become invasive so I may have to remove it. For now I am just going to enjoy the color.  At the old place, the whole orchard is covered with violets and I do mow them down in another month.

This may be opened by the end of the day. I will have to check it to be sure to catch it  blooming. I do have nine buds so I should catch them in bloom.

I need to go places and buy things but I will keep waiting.  The economy will be good when I can start buying things.  I need to catch up on the past months of spending.  We did get our check finally.  It just came in a common envelope that anyone could see that it was a check from the government.

I have a cake to bake today for Mother's Day.  We will have a good meal at home for the special day.  I hope everyone is doing good.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Friday's Fun........

The last surviving flowers of a bouqut of the past. They mums seem to hold on longer that all the others that come in the bouquet.  I need to get a bud vase for this stem and throw everything else away.

This variety is larger than ever before.  If my lawn treatment guy splashes fertilizer on it I am glad. It has always reminded me of "sum and substance' but never grew that large for me.

I just found this photo showing that a year ago we were having this addition built. We have sure enjoyed it the full four seasons even though winter is harder to stay warm.  It is nice though to go out and enjoy seeing a snow storm through the glass room.

The deck is smaller but we sure like it.  We can go outside to look around and see the things in the sky. We don't sit out there yet as we don't have a chair yet.  The grill gets all the joy of being there. This picture shows the deck before the railing was installed.

Thirteen steps helps with the exercise plan. Our carpenter smiled when saying it was a lot of steps tp carry things up and down.

This is last years shot of the redbud tree. Unfortunately the frost and ice shut the blooms down on the tree this year. It came right when it was covered with blooms and only about a  dozen buds then did bloom.

It is another cold day and I really can't plant anything. The frost warning tonight says we need to cover loat of things if we have new young plants round.  I see now on the tv that they are calling it a freeze warning.

It is Friday.  We are staying safe and warm now.. I have about three places I need to go but I won't be  going anywhere.  Thanks for checking in today.

I do have birthday photos from two different grandchildren but they just haven't been downloaded and edited. Later.........
