Thunder Gorge........No...Thunder Hole........

On Mt. Desert Island there is a gorge along the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean that makes a large noise when the waves come in but not this day.  When the winds are right and the waves are coming in at the correct angle this location is dangerous to be around.  The close a gate to keep people from trying to come down to see this hole. I did call it the wrong name as it it called Thunder Hole.

If your follow down the steps you can see people down at the far end where the hole is.   A year ago, not in this exact area, the waves were so great that people were being pulled into the ocean.  A fifteen year old girl drowned in this area last year from standing too close to the shoreline.

It was a busy day yesterday and I am still a remodeling fool again today.  Thanks for stopping in.......

Wow. Gorgeous place Larry. We have rocks here along Presque Isle in Marquette where kids try to either climb up or down and get washed off by the lake waves...or they try and walk the breakwater out to our lighthouse when the waves are high and they either slip off or get blown over and crashed with waves..it is so dangerous!

I am really enjoying your Maine pictures.
Is this the same as Thunder Hole? I remember going there when my son was just a little boy, many years ago.
