Frank Miller was a life long political cartoonist for the Des Moine Register. He wasn't a tough hitting cartoonist but he did cover the events of the city. Miller did have a good eye and mind about how things were going on in the city and how it was affecting the people of the city.
Whenever he would depict John Q. Public he would draw this guy who was about to be run over by basketball players. I think Miller identified with the guy and or he did represent himself with the character. When the motorcycle clubs would hit town or race cars would be racing, this guy would always find himself in the path of it all. Glasses falling off, cigar falling out of his mouth, hat bouncing and in most cases him leaning back ready to fall backward onto the ground. In many ways he was the Norman Rockwell of the city. He did cover politicians throwing tomatoes at each other or rugs being pulled out from under a govenor
You can date this cartoon by the style of uniform the girl is wearing with its pleated two color system. Old Murray high had purple and white skirts that usually hung almost to the knee. Assembling of this project will take place tonight baring any interruptions.
