Tuesday's Things..........
They are very cold and the windchill makes me feel colder. We had another freeze this morning but the soil temperatures must be staying warm enough to keep things going.
The hostas seem a little grizzlely on their tips but I think they should do well once they start to unfurl those leaves. I have a couple of smaller varieties of the hosta that have not emerged from the ground.
I gave my neighbor lady a red peony last summer while working on enlarging my porch. I saw the new location in her yard and it does have shoots coming up. She had forgotten that I had done that and told me it had died. It sure is very much alive.
Another set of plants from the fern leaf peony. I see there are a couple of buds on this one.
The robin (thrush family) is one of the many that were happy with the dirt work going on next to the road. I saw 5 of them at a time out there fighting over worms and bugs.
The third time of work on the ditch must be the final finish. This folly is so extreme that it is a shock to walk out there and view it. We live in a 125 year old town with lots of history and we have a modern trench going down the side of my property.
It will have to be seeded again. The group who worked on this did seem to know more about what they were doing than the last crew. The had a small caterpillar that spent most of the day packing the soil down. They did leave a slight edge next to the sidewalk so it won't be a complete drop off. Iowa soil does wash easily so the trench they made will be filled with soil in a couple of years from the edges of the ditch.
My dental experience did prove to be a better one than I expected. Instead of pulling a broken tooth, it was ground down to prepare for a bridge. The smaller tooth on the other side also was ground down helping the bridge to fill in a space of one missing tooth between them. It is funny how the dentist did not explain much so I was being surprised by the different procedures. I was so glad he didn't pull out any pliers to force out a tooth. A new bridge will be put in there about two weeks from now. I have a plastic thing in the space right now that feels like I have a folded up piece of cardboard stuck in there. I will count the days for that to go away. Walking away without sever jaw pain was a great thing for me. I am glad with the solution.
I will rest today but I have some low difficulty jobs I can do today. I see a set of violets that need to be divided and other small jobs I will be doing. I did finish transplanting thelast of my tomatoes into bigger containers. The fish are watching them grow for me. I am actually using their tank water to water them all as it has a lot of nitrogen in it. I just replace the water after I use out of the tank.
I go back to work tomorrow and normal life continues. I choose low stress jobs for the rest of the week thinking I would be healing an empty socket but I won't have to worry about that. I do feel a little beat up physically from being in the dental chair but that is going to be gone by tomorrow. Freezing cold this morning again but we are going to move into a warming spell.
Thanks for stopping by today.

I should have read this post first...I now see that you will have to return to the dentist but at least the solution is better than you first anticipated. Glad the pain is better.
I have not noticed our hostas popping thru the mulch yet. I'll have to look for them when I go out for the mail. Glad you finished with the tomato plants; that's a cute photo of the fish guarding the plants! Take it easy and feel better soon. It always takes a lot out of me to sit in the dentist chair!
Glad your dental experience went well. Not a happy place to go.
Looks like spring is wakening up at your home.
Your plants are way ahead of us! Glad you survived the dentist.
Hoping that the dental problems are resolved soon.
We had below freezing temps on Saturday night but everything came through okay, thank goodness! Maybe Spring will really take a hold soon.
A bridge that must cost two legs and an arm! I glad it is almost over for you, Dental work is no fun! You have Robins!! I hope to see one soon:)
