The former owners liked garden sculptures too. The eave trough drain pipe has this great sculpture of a little boy watching the water coming out of the end of the pipe. I have never seen these things before but we have three maybe four of these on our drain pipes. Do you see the rhubarb plant in the background? Unfortunately we just don't eat thats much rhubarb and there are five different plantings of it. I will have to remove some of it to put in my cemetery iris.
We are going to miss our birch tree and river birch tree at the older home but I did find out something that is growing near our place. I think it is a clump birch and it is just across the street and one house over to the right. I am not sure but I think it is a river birch. I have seen one other like it in another part of our development. The bush in the foreground is mine and I do not know what it is. I thought during the winter that it would be there first thing that I would cut down but I guess I should wait to see what it really is with leaves on it.
My blue spruce is a great specimen. I can see cardinals and other birds landing into its branches frequently. We have a residence rabbit that lives back there. Almost every time I walk Barney he goes running out from some bush or tree.
It is a good day to rest today. We may have to turn the air on today in the house. Barney suffered yesterday as it was warm outside. We had a bedroom window open all night to get the house cooled down. It is unseasonably warm and that will bring in thunder storms tonight.

Oh! I really like the drain sculpture, never seen them before.
We miss the rabbits and feeding the birds but we do have robins and mocking birds that have baby's in the holly trees.
They told us feeding birds causes rats, but they do have bird baths.

Hi Larry, my apologies for the long delay in visiting your blog, but it seems i have a lot to catch up on as I see by reading a few previous posts that you recently moved! I know what a lot of work that can be as we have done it ourselves several times and hope this apt is our final move. Of course, we still own the VA house, but keep hoping that one day we will be truly "homeless." That said, all the best to you settling in to your "new" place. Now, I plan to go back and read older posts to catch up a bit.
What a great find, having little boys playing in the rain water! You will have fun figuring out what all you have in your yard. Perhaps a neighbor would like some rhubarb :)
