91° F. Cool......

Our fall color really hasn't hit yet.  We have tops of maple trees that are tinting and some small trees are changing.  This tree is two blocks away and has always been a mystery. I at one time thought it was a birch but it just didn't have the right shape. The yellow side looked like it was behind the the green one but I was wrong.  With the binoculars I figured it all out.  It is a clump birch. For some reason the one trunk sticking out of part of the clump is going to change color sooner than the rest.

The pink sedum flowers turn to red as the fall continues. The astor behind the sedum is still struggling even with extra water.

The marigold have  select few good blooms and in weeks they will be gone. They will be pulled up from the ground and I shake the dirt off of the roots.

Buddy 1

Buddy 2

To shorten the story I will say these are brothers from a hatched group of five.  They are fifteen years old and each has its own personality.  One of them loves to start singing when my wife talks to him. She use to be the primary feeder each morning when we are at the old place.  Now that I take care of them they do like my voice but don't really respond. The one that is more vocal gets started and I can say "pretty bird" to keep him going. The one that doesn't sing does have a set of sounds of its own that it just started sharing a couple of years ago.

They love PBS travel shows in Ireland.  They like the sounds of the bagpipes and flutes.  They chatter back and forth as the shows are on.  I can not tell them apart except for the one dominates the other. I then know he is probably Buddy 1. They actually are patient with each other waiting their turn to eat at hanging millet sprigs. Their beaks are strong and they can chew up feeders and water containers.

We are having a quiet Sunday.  Watched church on television this morn and plan to go for a half of sandwich and salad at Panera for supper. It will be hot but it is Iowa.  Thanks for stopping by today.
