Friday's Finds

I call it a flat line sunrise.  It is too cold for the sun to rise. I didn't see the subtle clouds in the sky until I took the photo.

We had a sunny day that caused melting for a time period leaving deck drifts that looked like this.  We have been too cold now for any of that to happen.  We are going to warm up in the night.

My Charlie Brown tree was brought inside.  It isn't suppose to look so good in daylight but at night it is full of lights.  The winds have tossed it off the steps several times and finally I just gave up and brought it in. The few ornaments that are on it are wired to the tree so it can blow hard as it wants and they don't ome off. The top ornament does usually hang down instead of sticking out like that.

Thanks for stopping by today.

In Progress.....

It is in progress.  I have many different steps to do before I nail it together. I have a concern that they told me to assemble the box in the wrong way.  I don't know why I started with one of the most difficult plans in the book of ideas.

We are very cold.  I know some people north of us are colder but once it gets to be a negative number it is all the same.  Miserable temps means staying inside.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Wednesday's Wandering.....

The trees are coming down one at a time.  This will be gone in the next two days. Other projects are going on but I can spend time with it once in a while. The swan is from a set of 12 days of Christmas.  A swan a swimming instead of 7 swans a swimming.

I am thinking that this is the partridge.  The set has broad interpretation of them as a bird a calling is a red cardinal.

It has been a busy day for me.  Many "road blocks" on the things that I have been trying to do today.  It is frustrating but I am going to beat the game.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Tuesday's Tales.....

The line up is sitting still.  I am trying to keep my camera still when I take the shot.  I am posting blurry photos sometimes as I am having blurry vision so I don't know.  But most days I need to slow down and work on getting the focus. I have resolved to take better photos.

A project is in progress.  I am having to adapt everything to fit my kind of wood and my size of wood.  I have a lot of boards that I salvaged out of the old house.  There were shelving units that I tore out of the one room and the boards were fourteen inches wide.  My project calls for a little bit wider wood on a couple of pieces so I am changing and figuring alternate sizes to make it work.  I have most of the major pieces now cut but there are a couple of front and back pieces that are gong to require special cutting.  It is a different kind of plan as ever idea in the book is based on a box shape and then decorations are applied on to that.

It is a candle that I was gifted years ago. Everything is made of wax.  I never burned the candle, which is the tree, as that would ruin the decoration. There is one more deer on the other side.

Headed to the pharmacy today and to pick up groceries to get us through the extreme cold weather that is coming.  Winter has arrived and we are experiencing highs and lows in temps and the snow stays on the ground.  I  guess we have finally had winter move in.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Monday's Cold Breezes.....

Monday morning and it is a cold day. We are having sunshine but it is deceiving as we need all our winter gear to be outside.

We did not receive the heavy snowfall that hit in the southern part of the state.  It is winter and the snow is really a normal thing to have on the ground or deck.

My wife had a grandfather Cone who made this sled.  She inherited her creative side from this side of the family.

We have an orchid that has started a new plant on one of its stem. I am not familiar with the planting of these but I bet we just cut it off and put it into the same kind of material that the mother plant sits in right now.

I still have the one grandson's toys displayed.  He is at the age that he can make up new things without instructions.

Thanks for stopping by today.

New Year with Day 1........

We didn't get the heavy snow.  We did get very cold.  It is 8 degrees F. right now and that will be our high for today.  Negative temperatures will be all night again. My snow removal company came last night in the late evening to clear the drive and sidewalks.  We got a dusting of snow on top of that but that is manageable.

The ducks needed to put on their scarves for this kind of weather.  I found these in a drawer of the chest of drawers in the downstairs nook.  The are salt and pepper shakers.  They must have been my parents' as I don't remember any history about them.

A toy jet didn't get played with while the grandchildren were here.  I guess it isn't Star Wars themed enough. It belonged to our oldest son who is 46 years old now.

A lost artwork by me showed up in a video at my oldest brother's house in Mesa.  The were sharing a grandson playing on the piano.  He was well accomplished and the painting hung above the piano.  I asked my brother about it asking who painted it. He told me that I painted it.  He told me that I had painted over a students wasted canvas with a bad unfinished painting. I painted it over with white and I put this on the canvas.  I had forgotten the story and the longer I look at the painting I remember it. I have painted better paintings than this and could tell all about what is wrong with it but I won't.  The buildings must have been copied out of a Yankee magazine with all the buildings being connected together.  If I ever became famous they could x-ray it and see what is under the painting.

Here is some evidence that I have improved in 32 years.  Thanks for stopping by today. Happy New Year.
