Start of the Week....Work!

The day started early for us so I was able to get some good colors at sunrise.  It was cool temperatures but we certainly did warm up. I was working in the garden and by ten in the morning I was down to a t-shirt as it was too hot for anything else.

A new iris color is partially open and will be open by this afternoon. Its a great color and I have it planted in a couple of places.

This is the very last bloom of the fern leafed peony. It did bloom well and I didn't photograph it enough. I like the sculptural form the bloom takes in its decline.

These sculptural forms really are not so pretty but I like to capture them anyway.

I was surprised to see this iris in bloom. I had forgotten about it but it is a deep purple top and bottom. I don't remember where I got this iris but maybe from my parents old place. .

I worked with limited energy today to start to turn the soil in the one raised bed. Last year I had trouble getting sunflowers to grow so the old leftover head has seeded hundreds of plants this spring. I had to pull the most of them and left some in the middle of the bed. It isn't the tall variety but a multiple head variety. I cringed as I tossed all those sunflower plants into the recycle bin. My soil doesn't look so great but it is mixed with grass clippings from last fall so it has a grayed color. When it rains, if it rains, it will turn back to a darker color. I need to go buy tomato plants.

It is a hot afternoon. We are going to be hot all week but hopefully rainfall on Thursday. We are sort of out of drought now and are called severely dry. I think they are splitting hairs. Thanks for checking in today.
