Cake Addiction........

Cake seems to have a way to call out my  name whenever it is near me.  I arrived to school and open the refrigerator in the lounge.  There was left over cake.  It was my job to taste test it and it was so good.  Above are some carrot cake cupcakes that we picked up at a Walmart sales rack.

I know that I am working the Christmas cactus into my blog way too many times.  The thing is that I want to show you is what I have never noticed before about the tip of the bloom.  It is like it is bloom with zeal and it keeps stretching out there and so they had to put the cherry on top.

I wanted to share with you another photo of the one lone house finch at my feeder over the weekend.  He looks like he is picking out the most special seed. The feeder has an inch or more of snow on top of it this morning as we received snow all Sunday afternoon.

I am in the English room of the high school today.  It is all the lower classman grades of basic beginning English.  It should be a pretty good day.  When the sub writes that this one class has some good people in it, it makes me think the the majority of the class must be bad people.  I will survive.

Did you notice that I didn't post yesterday.  I have decided not to write my two blogs on Sundays anymore.  Unless there is something I just can't wait to share, I will be away from the computer on Sundays.

Visitors to my feeder.......

i looked out to the feeder today and was surprised to see this guy.  House Finches do not hang around our south part of the town.  They are many of them in the north part of town as the corn that is spilled out around the  Farmer's Co-op helps to keep them fed all winter.  I have visited people who have feeders near there and the House Finches are thick in numbers like sparrows.

Below is a description that  I found on the internet about this bird.

The House Finch is a recent introduction from western into eastern North America (and Hawaii), but it has received a warmer reception than other arrivals like the European Starling and House Sparrow. That’s partly due to the cheerful red head and breast of males, and to the bird’s long, twittering song, which can now be heard in most of the neighborhoods of the continent. If you haven’t seen one recently, chances are you can find one at the next bird feeder you come across.

I have now called them House Finches and was blogging away earlier calling them Purple Finches. Once I had posted it I remembered I had misnamed them.  I had to go back and make fast changes as I realized they are House Finches.

Speaking of sparrows, here are all the Sparrows that are feeding two stories below the Purple Finch.  The wind is blowing and it feels very cold out there. The sun is shining but it is still staying below freezing most of the day.

Before the finch showed up I was all excited about getting photos of this female cardinal. A Junco joins her on the top enjoying the fresh seed that I put out this morning.  I took a lot of photos of the female cardinal and you can find her also posted on my one other blog  Larry's Photo a Day. I captured the male cardinal a few days back and was so glad to see that red top notch on the female today.


I am late posting again today but I finally have some new photos to share. It is nice to have Saturday off.  Even though it has been a busy one for me cutting picture frames I still have had breakfast out at Denny's, been to Menards for materials and have had two breaks with tea.
