Tuesday Thaw......

The day is warmer today and you can see the snow is going away up the street. I won't be mowing the yard soon as we are predicted to have snow on Thursday.

Down the street looks the same. It would be a good day to trim back my rose bushes but I won't.  I usually wait until March on a warm break.

Our house shades the backyard so we still have snow on the ground.  It will be gone maybe by Thursday before the new snowfall.

I am busy working my wainscoting project.  It is slow work but sort of fun to do.  Thanks for stopping by on this Tuesday.

Full Moon.....

The shot makes me wonder if there is enough light from the sun to create electricity with my neighbors collectors.

The full moon is now over and it will be decreasing in size.  The full color moon happens when it is lower in the sky.  When it gets higher in the sky the normal colors are shown.

Melting....

It is 39° F. and we are slowly melting off snow.  It isn't a rapid melt but we are to have it like this for a week or so. I can see a small trickle of water running down the curbs of the street.

Maybe in a couple of months I can put up the trellis.  They are from Wayfare and are all vinyl.  I don't have the health to build them anymore nor do I want to maintain them with painting them off and on through the last of my years.  I do think I will buy four square posts to place in the ground to support them. I will have to paint them.

The wainscoting project continues tomorrow with me starting on another wall.  I don't have the top moldings yet but that can happen quickly once I purchase them,  Staining and finish has been put on this one, not shown in this photo.  I will have all my furniture sitting in the middle of the room if I don't finish off some of this.  We don't live down here in the walk out basement so the mess is easy to tolerate.

It is a quiet Sunday today.  We are planning on doing chili dogs for supper and pretend we are kids again. Thanks for stopping by today.

Blogging On and on and on...

My wife's painting makes it appear that the cat is looking out from behind the birdhouse collection. They are  protected from the outside elements including the cold temps.  It seems like it will be a long time before they can be taken back outside.

The morning sun gives us hope for that warming trend that is promised. It still is pretty cold out there but we may be thawing by late afternoon.  I need to good shopping but I am not to anxious to get out into the cold air.  I do see that there is some traffic out there on our streets this Saturday morning.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Freezing Friday.....

On one of my garden supply shelves is a great visual. I will be happy to see the day lily blooming again.  I saved the packaging so I could remember the name of the plant.

This is a view of a project in progress.  I have some wainscoting wood saved from a project I was going to use at the old house.  When I sold the old house I removed it and brought here.  I may never use it up but I am finding some walls in my basement where I can apply it.  I have it all up now and need to bu a moulding to cap it and a new baseboard piece.  I have stained it with fruitwood stain and it needs a coat of varnish to finish it.

Just checking as I go that it is running level as it was put up. I wasn't happy about it at first as to how it looked but I do like it.

The sun is shining brightly as the birds have a glow from the east.  It was 0° F. again this morning.  We are going to start warming up tomorrow.

I had to relearn the folds. I learned how to make them when I was seven years old.  I taught kids how to do it for 34 years.  Some kids made so many of them once they learned how. I found a box of origami paper and preceded to make one.  My brain didn't remember it anymore.  I had to make the one on the right and realize I didn't know what I was doing.  I waited a half hour and started again going slowly as I folded.  I did finally pull out the steps needed to make the paper crane.  I need to keep practicing for my brain's sake.

Have a good rest of this Friday.

Seeing Shadows for Sure....

It warmed up a bit with a bright sun but we are still feeling that arctic air by late afternoon.  Our wind chills are predicted to be really bad.

February 1 ........

They are all boxed up and back on their shelves in the storage room.  It is a fun thing to have so all the work is worth it.

It is all packed up and everything is labeled to help with next year's set up.  Trees and people all have their own special boxes.

We added one new one as I gifted my wife with this one.  It was made in the USA and has lights and a musical device built into it.

This is another shot of this guy who visited a couple of days ago.  He has not returned since. We are headed to a high of 30° F. today.  It feels like spring after all that cold air. Thanks for stopping by on this Wednesday.
