Friday's a Finish

The newly hatched sparrows show up at the feeder in droves. This one is just sitting and waiting to grow some more.

Photographing the hummingbird is successful if you can get the light to reflect off of their feathers. I have photos for the first time of a ruby throated one but reflection isn't there so it only looks black and not red.

The red doesn't show up in the view but as a black band on its throat. This isn't a clear shot but it does show the location of the colored area.

One more view of the male bird. I haven't seen one for the entire season until just yesterday. I put out a second feeder hoping that it would cut down on the fights among the birds.

The morning shot is mixed with the Canadian smoke. We have had two severe air quality warnings and one can feel it in the lungs when we are out there. I would hope hope that the fires could subside for the sake of Canadians.

One of my orchids has developed multiple buds and at this time you can see the one bloom. My best success with these are to just ignore them and water them a few tablespoons at a time on rare occasions.

We have cooler weather. It is so great. We made a quick trip to pick up my wife's new glasses. She had cataracts removed on both eyes and it was successful to a certain degree. She had one eye that afterwards showed double vision. It was good to have the cataract removes but still will always need glasses to correct the double vision. It is a prism effect correction for the one eye. She is relieved that she can see so well and that she doesn't have to close one eye to be able to do most things. She believes it is the best vision she has ever had in her lifetime. Modern technology is so amazing.

Thanks for stopping by today.
