Saturday Stillls

The angel in the secret garden is waiting and watcing for the row of hostas to bloom. They may be too much shade for it to happen but we will keep watching for them.

The dinner plate hibiscus may be a small bush but it still has the large blooms. It appears to be healthy even though it didn't put out many stems this season.

I complained because I could not get the red color of the feathers to reflect for me while photographing the ruby throated hummer. So while I was looking through some shots that I was going to trash and I will show  you what I found.

It isn't a great photo but I guess I could call it a candid shot. I was surprised to see that the light was just right and I captured a true red on the ruby throated humming bird. It was a very great surprise to see it and I don't even remember when I took the shot.

I worked outside this morning and it was nice a cool. As with some mornings I ended up having conversations with many passer-bys.  One neighbor was headed to exercise class and wanted to discuss our crabgrass problem. One couple was walking by with their small Yorkis and stopped just to talk. In the conversation I was able to give away my other neighbor's leftover tomato cages. I took the cages so she wouldn't have to worry about them as the house was being shown. The other person was the neighbor that has moved to senior living and she was back to trim weeds. She wanted to talk about the sale progress which is going slow.

In spite of all that was going on in the front yard with me I did get some salvia plants cut back in my circle garden. They were invading everything and I am just going to have to get rough with them. I will pull some eventually and throw them away. The flower area use to be full of wonderful annual flowers but the salvia took over the area, along with an iris. The iris too will be dug up and reduced in size. I did dig out some crabgrass killer and worked on the invasion again today. I see the previous spraying is helping but I went back to get better coverage. Getting too much rain is the result of healthy crabgrass.

Thanks for stopping by today.
