Week, middle, Week..............
The morning glories at the garden shed have started to bloom. It becomes a challenge to find new compositions to use in sharing the blooms. I really like this trellis on the garden shed and I can shoot may shots at different angles.
It was raining this morning in a town south of us. So all we had was the clouds blocking the sun. By late morning the rain did hit and we are glad to get the moisture..I can tolerate the dreary day too because we were getting really dry. Two hot days in a row were hard on the plants outside.
The phlox have been so wonderful to see in the garden this summer. Sometimes they don't last very long because of a dry season. I didn't look it up on my past blogs but I think I have had blooms for two months now.
It is Wednesday and we have a shortened day a school. I will get out early too as I don't have to attend workshops. The week is going good. I hope the weather isn't too harsh on a lot my blogging friends. All at the same time, we all have such different weather. Thank you for stopping by today.

Tuesday........
The blooms do happen while I am away at work. The buds do have a great swirl to them as they open up though with the red and white stripes like a candy cane.
The burning bush is hinting definitely that fall is around the corner. It is one of the first shrubs that starts to turn one leaf at a time. It has a lot of large berries formed already which will make the birds happy after they have ripened in the winter.
My favorite hardy geranium has a few new blooms on it. It has done well with all the rains and its leaves are really healthy for this time of the year.
We went to see the new "Star Trek" movie yesterday. If you are not into that type of movie then you don't care about what I have to say about it. Those who do love these kinds of things should go see the newest one....many times. It is the best of the first three. They have outdone themselves with all of the special effects and the story is so great too. I know we would like to go back to see it again. I do know that we will own a copy of it when it is released in stores.
First day back at school and it is slow going. I am glad I can do this job and I really do like the students. I hope everyone is having a good day today. Thanks for stopping by to see the blog.

Lobor Free............
It was a cooler day yesterday and the morning glories stayed in bloom through the afternoon. The day was gray so the flowers had a deeper red color showing.
This young squirrel has driven crazy all summer with its antics. He has not been scared of the dogs in the backyard. He isn't scared of me when I walk close to him at the birdfeeder. He has no fear. Now he seems to be licking my deck. I realized that I sometimes put salt on the deck in the winter to rid it of ice. I am guessing he can taste and retrieve it from those boards.
His head is is constant motion. I didn't realize that neither head shot of this guy is in focus. He was out yesterday again and climbed the porch pole and glared at me. He wanted me to go away so he could resume his activity. With the two big silver maple trees gone we have only two squirrels on the property. The front big old maple is still standing and I think they are sharing the tree with a raccoon.
The last of the hollyhock plants still have one stem of buds at the top. The stems are really tall this year because of the rains we had all summer.
The late starts of the two sunflower seeds have shown what will be happening. Since the started so late they are just going to grow about three foot high and start to make a bud on each of them. Season timing means they should be doing that right now so that is what I am seeing. It is a strange season as the two plantings of seed didn't yield any plants at first and now there are two. The morning glories out there have yet to bloom and the tomatoes planted out there are filled with fruit but they have not ripening.
I shared this rose bloom the other day and it seems to be haniging on for a long time. I am glad to see two more buds are on the stem.
No big plans for the day off today. We may go in and hit the Star Trek movie before it is gone. I have some work to do on the porch and all outside work will be done in the morning. It is going to be 90 degrees this afternoon. A heat wave seems to be moving in for a few days. I hope all have a good day today and thanks for stopping by to view the post.

Sunday Afternoon..........
Sunday morning and I had to hide the sun behind the maple tree so I could get the photo. The earth keeps tilting and I have to keep shifting my location on the patio for the shot. I was out with Barney this morning as he gets spooked about things and needs me to walk out to his yard with him. Button would have had me out an hour earlier and the sunrise could have been better looking then.
The hardy geraniums are reblooming again after the last hard rainfall. The camera picks this up to be far more orange than it really is. The plants here on the shelf next to the gate have become very healthy in this location.
I have been distracted the whole summer and I lost a lot of violets. I am down to four and will work hard to keep them going. They seem to do better in the winter but I have to take better care of them in the summer to get them there.
I have one plant that is an heirloom variety. It doesn't have too many tomatoes on the vines. The romas are going to be our main supplier of food.
I may have five or more of these guys to eat this summer.
Here is a lineup to show you the size differences of all of them. Just like a farmer who shows off an ear of corn sample to brag about his crop, I have to put them on the ledge and take a bragging rights photo.
It is quiet here at home this Sunday afternoon. The day is a gray one. It is nice to have one more day tomorrow for resting before going back to school. I appreciate your stopping by today.

Saturday Stuff..........
While out at the garden I picked these romas and carried them around while I was looking for things to photograph.
As I kept wlking around I kept coming back to take another shot. I don't know why it made me think of the bands that use to go on tour and would place signs out everywhere before they arrived.
The tomatoes did make it to the front porch table. The angel was not amused but I think they were removed soon to become a part of bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Thus ended that tour.
I need to get out with a bucket and now picked some more tomatoes. The roma is a different variety as the tomato drops to the ground when it gets ripe and doesn't stay on the vine.
The moss rose puts out another show for a little while. The whole planting is fading now as fall starts to appear. It is have cold nights now which may really slow it down.
We have been tied down the past month so today we will go to the bookstore. It is with mixed feelings of the why's and how's as we start our new life without our little dog. We will be fine in the future but not right now. Our big dog Barney is not happy with a smaller pack and he was such a good friend of our Button. I do appreciate all the kind words as many have been through the trials of losing pets. Our loss is no larger than anyone else. It is nice to have people alongside with us as we move on with our lives. Thanks for stopping by today.

Gone but Still Loved.........
With Button having to go outside in the early morning these past few years I was blessed with seeing sunrises each day. I took this sunrise this morning by myself as Button passed away last evening. I will continue to take as many sunrises as I can now and will smile. He was the best dog ever and blessed me and my wife so much.
1998-2016
It was our joy to have had him for 18 years as our sidekick and friend. He loved to be carried and close to us everyday. His last days were tough and we carried him continually. Button was such a warrior. We will carry him in our hearts the rest of our lives.

Thursday.........
Past Wednesday evening I was able to get a sunset in the west. I know it is an urban like sunset but the sky was so wonderful.
Wednesday morning I had a chance to take a photo of this sunrise. The colors seem to be the same as the weather conditions really didn't change all day.
I know that when the going gets tough the tough buy junk food. We don't usually keep this much of this kind of thing around. I bet the bottom box is almost empty so another had been purchased.
The wave petunia is finally showing signs of vining. I know I bought it late in the spring so I should think it will be so grand as those you see in the stores.
I am on my first full day on my own in the classroom. It is a little rough at first but I am getting into the rhythm of things. I am going to be tired by the end of the week after doing the job five days straight. I will have to get myself in shape for full time teaching.
I appreciate your stopping by today. Thank you.
