Saturday's Stuff...

I left a lot of these still in the garden as the two of us can not eat them that quickly. I will check with the one neighbor to see if they are ready for more.  Any tomato that was not completely red did not get picked.

This morning's sun did not shine through.  It is about the same this afternoon with a low glow of sunlight showing.

Another view of my visiting swallowtail from yesterday. It is nice to see a few butterflies this year as they didn't seem to be around last year.  I saw a yellow sulphite earlier this mroning and a monarch does flit around once in a while.

I need to flip the dresser upside down to see what needs to be glued.  I have run out of glue so I will need to borrow some of my wife's Gorilla Blue. The wood was so aged and dried out that it needed to be attached with glue. The joints are all loose fitting with gaps.  I did see a hint of glue from the original construction with horse glue.

It is taking a lot of patience to work on this piece. I actually am happy with it but I don't have the patience today to tell about all that is going on right now. The top drawer was trial fitted and it will need some tweeking.  The decision to stain the drawers is now a given but I am not ready to face the decision to what color I should use to match the side panels. These old pieces were stained with a material that was almost more like an ink than a stain that we use today.

I am having trouble pulling up any more photos for today's blog so I will just quit. Thanks for stopping by today.

Good Weather Day.....

I was sitting in the sun room and saw it flying in to the garden.  He was hungry as he stayed for a long time and did not leave while I went to get the camera.  There was a monarch out there that just would not land on any flower.  It landed a second on leaves of tree but then fluttered away.

The rose is not a climber but it does grows through the rails making a good shot. The rain last night was so minimal but anything does help.

The working on the chest of drawers frame this morning proved to be a challenge.  The back panel needed to be drawn back into the groove.  The piece is weathered and warped a bit but I did get it drawn back together, squeezed into its slot but not one hundred percent. The bead of glue was created to drain into the slot and dry and stick it together.  The more I work with this chest I can see it wasn't a finely made piece of furniture.

The whole piece would probably could have been torn completely apart and then reassembled. but I think a lot of the side pieces would never ever fit together like new.  So I will reassemble the best that I can and hopefully it will stand all together and not fall apart anymore.

The zinnias can be a good draw for butterflies and yesterday I saw a gold finch out there.  I don't think that there is any seed yet but maybe it was looking for bugs.

A slow Friday for me today as I wait for glue to dry.  I ran to the Ace hardware to get recycle bags for trimmed branches and weeds.  I will have to wait until I get all five bags filled before I can call for a pick up of them.  We are having nice temperatures today with a gentle breeze.

Thanks for checking in today.

Thursday.....

This is just the one leftover seed in an old seed packet. It has multiple buds on the top . I hope to see blooms soon. Yes it is tall.

The begonias are like their location on the potting bench. I placed it there temporarily and I just haven't moved it.  It is partially protected and yet gets morning sunshine.

The dinner plate hibiscus is doing well with many buds yet to be opened. I give it an extra dose of water once in a while since it is on the back side of the house.

It is an unnatural blend of things but the vines like the tomato vines to spread out on. By noon the blooms are closing up for the day.  The tomatoes are doing too well.

I thought the plants seemed slow this year but they are doing better now.  I guess we did have different weather that made them slow to germinate.  The bright colored ones are from my seed that I collected last fall.

The yard was mowed by our hired person and things are looking better in the yard.  We had a small rain this morning but not too measurable. Things are staying somewhat green even though we are in a drought. The ground is really dry.

I am not working on much today as I am having another slow down day.  I have too many things going on in my body to ignore the warnings so I just go slow.  I am having blood number count problems that seem to be going crazy high then dropping.  If I were eating cookies, cake and ice cream I would know what is wrong but I am behaving.  Thanks for checking in today.

Summer....

The day will be a cooler day for summer weather. I had plans and then just dropped them just because I can. Summer can be slow living and i plan to just take a slow day.  My yard needs to be mowed but I don't know if the guy will come today. I need to trim back some bushes but I can't recycle them until October.  I guess that is when I will trim them then. It is almost State Fair time here but we will not be going to it.  I have a build up of things to do but that can just sit for a while.  Thanks for checking in today.

Happiness is when the blogger people corrected the errors with the "reading list" button.  I can now view my lists again.

A Few Words....

I did get my other side of the garage straightened and cleaned.  I freely toss things of the past that I should never had moved to the new place. I had brought the last of my tools from the old place down from there and they were sorted and hung on the board.  The weather is cool today so it worked out well.  I took my phone with me as I am waiting for two different important phone calls. I guess one isn't suppose to call them and ask why are you not calling?  Anyway the organization of things makes me happy.  Thanks for stopping in today.

Monday All Day....

My neighbors like me growing tomatoes.  I share them and usually just put them on the top of their fence. The other neighbor grows their own.

I am going to have more tomatoes soon. We don't really have anywhere to donate them but we could get creative.

Our rains did help this rose to bloom well. It also had to be sprayed today for Japanese beetles which destroy a bloom if left alone.

It is a pretty bloom with mixed colors. This is the second set of blooms for this rose. The leaves seem to be really healthy.  It has been good weather for growing roses this year.

My large yellow day lily just keeps blooming. It has been a smoke free day today and the temperatures were nice. Low 80s are predicted for the rest of the week. Thanks for checking in today.

Sunday's News.....

The rain caused the grass to be greener and the flag looks brighter. We really need that rain to revive a few things.

The weather people said the rains would not clear the smoke. It must have helped a little as we can see the sun.  I have to admit we still smell smoke when we are out in the sun room.

The tomatoes are starting to turn color.  It looks like I picked the bigger ones too soon but they will turn redder the longer that they sit there.  I am accused of living in the tropics by one of my Canadian friends because I am getting tomatoes now.  But it is August and I did plant them early.  I notice on the map that we are in zone 5a and also in 5b growing areas.  The big city near us makes us warmer and throws us into that 5b zone.

The visitor was around in the evening for some fresh seed. The seed brought in the female and also a couple of morning doves.

It is a pleasant day here today and the sun is shining.  Thanks for stopping by today.

I am having trouble with blogger.  I can't open my friends list to see people's postings.  I hope it is temporary.  I can't really visit people's sites unless I search for your blog on the net.  I don't remember the exact names.  I do reach out to those who are making comments as I can connect to your comment.
