This is just a spot to visit, of one who is on a journey. You can see my projects, plants, family, pets, artworks, antiques and anything else that comes along.

Sunday's Stuff......
This is the squirrel that doesn't eat too much. He sits guard of the geranium plant and doesn't seem to move.
From the trash is the folding bench that a student had thrown away. It does fold up and I am sure the boy didn't want to take it home as he didn't take the time to put the top boards on it correctly. It was assemble without trying to see where the top should be placed and attached so they were square. Oh well, I can use it for a pot table.
The poinsettia is doing well outside in the heat. I have seen these growing wild year round in California so I do know they can tolerate the weather as long as it doesn't get to dry or maybe too cold. Not going to happen around here being too cold for quite a while.
We are in a cooling trend now and we will not be so hot. The nights should get down to 70's earlier in the night. I hope it helps to generate a few rain clouds as we are very dry just like the rest of the county.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Saturday's Report for the Day..........
My watergauges are consistent in measuring rainfall. As you can see they both have the same level of water. This is water left from our freak twenty minute downpour. The water level you see here is what is left after a day of 100 degree temps. I figured it was over an inch of rain that we received.
After a second planting and a lot of watering, I did get some zinnias to germinate and grow. They are not very thick and I will need to move some plants into the blank parts of the area to help fill in the zinnia patch.
Here is my weekly tomato report. The extreme heat has made the tomato plants thrive. I did have to water them daily but the hot south side of my house has proven to be a perfect place to plant tomatoes. This set hangs on the vine from the tomato planted in a patio pot.
The phlox looks pathetic but I am glad they have survived our ten days of heat. We are suppose to start to cool down on Sunday. Our highs will be closer to normal and 15 to 20 degrees lest than what we have been experiencing.
Mowing parts of my yard, resting, and going to the bookstore are going to be plans for my Saturday. Thanks for stopping by my post today.

Green......
I really do not remember my white hydrangea plants turning green. I guess the dry weather has cause them to die down faster than in a normal season.
I was asked about the white hydrangea by one of my blogger friends. The white one is the standard old fashion plant around our older houses. I remember only ever seeing white hydrangea while growing up and the color ones that they sell today seemed to an unusual thing around here. I do see the pink, blue and lime green ones for sale.
We are predicted to be 101 degrees F. today. That is 38.3 degrees C. in the rest of the world's scale. It is hot in the building where I work and it will be hotter today as it doesn't cool down much in the night. I think it was 80 degrees cool when I got up on Thursday morning.
We had a freak storm early Thursday morning with a half inch of rain coming down in torrents. It lasted less than twenty minutes and then we went back to hot weather. We were grateful for any rain.
Hot or cold I am glad you stopped by today.

Bargain Plants......
I purchased two of these for a dollar each at Walmart. They are a new plant for me and they are globe basil. The smell is wonderful and I will get them planted in the next couple of days. I have to keep them alive long enough to enjoy the leaves with the tomatoes.
I am a sucker at collecting about everything. Once I have two I need to buy a third variety. I have more than three hardy geraniums and this is my new dollar addition. I bought it for the leaf coloration. It is great. I just transplanted it into a larger pot in hopes that it will grow bigger to fill it.
It is Thursday and it is only a two day week so that is good. It will be hot and I will drink water continually for the day. It is the non air conditioned area that we will be working in today.
Thanks for stopping by my post today.

Fourth of July.........
The closest to the fireworks for us will be this photo of the field lily. We will watch concerts on tv and will probably see fireworks at the end of those shows.
Eating out breakfast and resting inside at home will be the most activity for us. The heat will keep us off the patio and inside the whole day.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by my posting for today.

Tuesday's Things.........
This beauty is blooming just off of my patio. It seems to like the heat and has many more buds to bloom.
The phlox has droopy leaves but the blooms keep opening up. It sounds like we have seven straight days of sitting in this high zone yet to come.
I did find the original use for the antique cast iron base. It may have been a bird bath but I don't really know. I do have a plastic sauce sitting on it and the birds and squirrel like to get a drink from it. Sometimes the squirrels lands badly from the fence to the water tray and the whole thing come falling down. I do need to do some weeding here but I bet most of you have some weeds somewhere in you yard.
Work today and then a day off.
Thanks for stopping by my post.

The wind and the weight.......
With a sharp down wind the apple tree lost it's branch fill with all these apples on it. Just now I am thinking I may not remove the branch as the leaves of the broken branch are still alive. The break wasn't complete so I am going to wait a couple of weeks to see how things progress. It would be nice that the apples would be able to mature more. This is the same tree that didn't have an apple on it last year.
I have a deep red hollyhock that needs some rain. I may give it a bucket of water todat after work. I picked the seed from a neighbor's plants a few years back and it just now is blooming. I would like to bet a better photo of it but it has distorted shaped flowers no matter what angle I take the photo.
It is back to work today. I will be glad when we can get the bathroom projects done. It may happen by the end of the day but the light fixtures have not been shipped to us.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Stay cool wherever you live in this world.
