Thursday's Things....

The storm did cover up the sighting of the moon once it all hit.  The storm lasted for a long time and the strong winds lasted until three in the morning.

It looked like this about an hour before it hit. The clouds were moving fast and tornadoes were spotted in the state at various locations.

A humorous side of the storm is the knocking down of the Canadian fake geese. I thought I had brought in everything but these two had to go through the winds.

When we had our door mat picked up by the wind and hit the side of the house we thought we had been hit by something hard.  Another humorous sight is the fallen reindeer that couldn't take the continue blowing.

Our temperatures were u to 71 degrees F. yesterday.  When the cold air hit that temp we had the explosion of a storm.  It dropped down to 36 degrees F. in the night. The only people sliding on snow are these guys in my wife's village.

While out on the deck this am I saw this view of my wife's angel tree. The peace sign looks good as we are at peace now after such a long time of windy weather.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Wednesday with Weather....

The moon was begging me to take its photo while I was out on the deck last night. It is a strange shape right now but the details show up so well in the photo.

The lights on the outside tree are glimmering while I am out there taking the shot of the moon.  I am hoping that the extreme winds today will not lift it off the deck.  I have it wired to the railing and I guess I am counting on that to hold it in place.

The fireman is springing into action as he leaves the fire station to head to a fire. I like seeing the toys donation site that sits in the front of the station.

The night view of the village shows that I did get all of the lights installed in all of the houses. The evening is a better time to photograph the village. It is better then than when it is completely dark outside.

Our weather is on alert today as we reach 71 degrees F. today. When that gets that warm in the winter it means severe winds and perhaps a few tornadoes.  Our temps will drop to 27 degrees F. in the night and that is what causes the severe weather.  We headed to get last minute groceries not know if the electridity will stay on afterwards.  We both have had reactions to our booster shots with fevers and body aches. I didn't see the truck that hit me but it did damage my muscles.  We are better today but we are not back 100%.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Mondays Progress....

It is village building time again.  I carry the boxes up. I take the buildings out of the boxes.  My wife places and replaces the different buildings until she gets it just right.  I am the electrician and I install the lights in the back holes of each building so the are lighted with glows coming from out of the windows.  I need to buy some more lights now as I didn't have enough working bulbs.

The fire station is in the front here with its truck inside the open door and firemen are not installed yyet in front of the building. The styles of the buildings are so fun to see of early American times or European architecture.

There are still a lot of people yet to be placed in the village. As the work progresses you will see more photos.

We had our booster shots this morning.  It has me walking with a weave this afternoon but I have walked it off somewhat.  It is a real reaction to the shot but I didn't have the complete pain all over the one side of my body like the second shot created.  I will just be careful for a oouple of days to not take risks that could cause me to tumble.  We are having warm weather today but I won't be out working outside. Thanks for stopping by today.

Afternoon Blog......

The collection that almost did not get displayed.  But I did get them up.  The differnt kinds include the 12 days of Christmas ornaments.  There is a set of ornaments that looked like they were from Russia with the kind of designs were painted on them.  Dogs were a theme for some of them and some of them are various kinds of Santas.

Daisies were fresh with some red pervuian lilies.  It seems like spring when you can bring in flowers like this.

Peruvian lilies have a great red color. They are a longer lasting flower that makes a bouquet a good buy.

The trees are all now completely decorated. We finished our big tree this afternoon.  All that is left is the village to be arranged and all the people put out among the buildings.  The merry-go-round is playing great songs again and the horses go round and round.  I have to put in the lights in each building while my wife sets up the city people.

We get our booster shots tomorrow and we will see what we will be able to do physically.  Some people have bad reactions to the shot and the booster.  I hope we don't react at all.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Saturday....

The first snow is a light one. We warmed up  in the afternoon so most of it is gone now. It is ironic that just today I got the last bill to pay for the person who mowed my yard.

I am required to take the shot because it was the first snow. I regret that the effects of our weather did help to cause the bad weather southeast of us. We are suppose to have very warm weather this next week.

I was in a gloomy mood yesterday morning and had decided not to decorate this tree.  The lights were on it for the effect of a tree in the window being view by the outside people.  I was remembering all the people we lost this year and it is sad.  The two persons that died this past month seemed to be too much.  Then I remembered all those that were lost and how they lived their lives the best they could with so much energy and love for life. I decided to quit feeling bad and went in and put the ornaments on the tree.

I actually became happier as I handled this collection of glass blown ornaments.  The memories of the different groups or kinds of ornaments range back to the 1970s.  I will share their different stories as I continue to blog. Some of the ornaments were owned by my late brother and mother.  Others that are really nice were gifted to me as presents, the gifter knowing that I was a collector. I do remember each one and where they came from.  I will share some of my favorites in the future.  The Italian snowman cook with his pizza and mustache is unusual.

Most of these ornaments were picked up as sales items after Christmas time. The modern ones can be just as good as the older ones and some of them aren't hand painted so well.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Friday's Finds....

I won't share all the details this year of my first seeing bubble lights.  An abbreviated version is that I was very young and visited a Christmas party at a country school in southern Iowa that my three brothers attended.  The bubble lights were so fascinating to me as well as being in that one room school house. Mine don't have the beads in them like the old versions which made a wonderful pinging sound.

Instead of having an outside tree with lots of lights I put this one up in the window for everyone to see.  At night the effect is so great. No ornaments are on this tree yet and the jury is out as to if I have the energy to put them on the tree.  We still have not added our ornaments on our major big tree. I have glass blown ones that go on this tree if it happens.

My wife's angel tree is decorated.  The angel collection that sits below it has not been installed.  I have carried up the boxes.

We are waiting for erratic weather conditions to happen. Snow may be on the way with freezing rain.  Then of course the predictors may be mistaken. Thanks for stopping by today.
