First Day......

The view from our deck is always changing. This was Saturday and it is bright compared to the last few days of gray clouds and low light.

I did find one more box of ornaments that go on this tree. It looks good already but the next batch will finish it off. Yes I think the picture is blurry but I am not working with good eyesight right now. I have a couple or three nutcrackers that still need to bring brought upstairs.

It is a slow start for me this Monday morning.  I hope everyone has a good day today.  Thanks for stopping by today.

In the News.....

Branches are all on the tree now without too much confusion. We did it in two working sessions. The top is the easiest part to do.

I did get enough energy to put the lights on the tree late afternoon. Ornaments will be done as time goes on.  I have carried up containers that have our large ornaments in them. The tree is in the corner this year and it proves to create some great reflections at nigh with the windows.

I keep trying to get a good, focused photo of the Christmas cactus and this is the best I can do for now. It has two blooms on it unlike last year at this time when it had numerous blooms on it.

It is a cloudy day today with cool temperatures.  I would welcome the sun but it isn't going to happen.  I wish you all a great Sunday.  Thanks for stopping by....

Angel Tree.....

The next tree to be assembled is the angel tree. It is a tall thin fake tree but it works well there in that window.

I like all the sparkle that is created between the lights and ornaments. The tree is filled with my wife's collection of angel themed ornaments that she has collected through the years. I have donated some of my glass blown angels to the collection and that seemed appropriate.

Our next tree to assemble is the larges tree that we have. It is going to be placed over into the corner of the sunroom. As you can see it was just in the boxes stage yesterday but today we will assemble it.  I don't think that lights are all that I am going to get out for it for today's task.

It is a cool day again today but the sun is shining. The morning sky was with very little color as it was clear without clouds. It is Saturday and we are home again today. A lot of people are dead each day from the disease.  It is really sad.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Friday's Here......

It is time to sore the seed for next year. I have this one jar full and I will need to  find a couple more to finish the job. I have dried marigolds and one other kind of marigold flower dried now. I guess it is winter now as the seed has been brought in for a month or more.

My front garden has been neglected but the sedum looks good still standing.  It will look good with snow piled around it. I can see some dianthus among it all that is still green.

One of my old fashioned iris is still green growing in the back yard. It is one of my cemetery iris and it is really hardy.

I almost forgot to display these Christmas balls in the jars last year but they are upstairs up now this year. Some of them are shiny brites and others were made at the same time in the 1960s.

I really like my patio but the memories that I had of the pain in my gut while I installed them are not so good. It took me two summers to install them and I could only lay two or three tile a day. Knowing the kind of surgery I had I now know what was hurting while I was doing the job.

I am moving slow today but I am doing good. I have more goals to get things done than energy to accomplish it. At least I do feel strong enough to make plans.  We are cold again today and we will be staying home today. I may have to take a walk out in the backyard to look at the same old things.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Thursday's Things....

Wednesday evening we saw an interesting sunset.  It was almost too low for us the see where from where we live.

The birds gather waiting their turns to feed at my bird feeder. It is a little blurry but I do think that one of them is a house finch with that red head.

A blurry shot of my outdoor tree for this year.  I had the lights already strung on it and the Christmas balls are wired on permanently.  All I had to do was bring it up from the basement where it had been wrapped up in a bed sheet. I put it out on the deck so the neighbor hood could see it. The two houses to the back of us have young kids and I wanted them to see it when they look out their back windows.

My Thanksgiving cactus is putting out some meager numbers of blooms this year. It is the light changes that makes it bloom and it may put more buds later. I am grateful to get some blooms.

It is a pretty day today.  I drove my wife to the grocery store this morning and we are back now. I got to see the neighbor's dog this morning as we were out by the car.  She is a sweet cattle dog and she rush over to her owners disapproval.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Middle of the Week....

My wife found some things that would be substitutes for cookies.  If I cut on biscotti in half, I can have a taste filled cookie-like thing to go with my coffee.  She also found some Swedish cookies that I can eat one or maybe two to go with my coffee.  The coffee doesn't quite taste normal to me yet but I did finish a whole cup this morning for  breakfast.

My corner of plants looks like this now.  I am glad I could make a shelf for the violets and everything else did fill in nicely. Three of the plants will return to the other window once the Christmas tree is taken down. I can't believe  how large that pepperonia plant became in the large pot. We use to use that in terraiums but they were restricted in the glass jars.

I was ill when I tried to put this together but now I can walk around outside and enjoy it. The rose that I transplanted below it still has green stems on it so it will climb up on it next summer.  William Baffin roses are tough even when the are abused.

This one is still outside but it won't take long for me to bring it inside. I see I still have green vines growing around it.

The nicest service man came to the back door and worked on my door. He worked on it for a while and when I checked on him he shook his head negatively. The door was off three fourth of an inch on one side and he could not shim it up because they had put glue under the door.  He drilled a new hole so the bolt lock would work and said he would immediately order me a new door. We can at least bolt it shut and I don't have to lean a chair under the knob.

I have spent the last two days trying to get appointments for special doctors. It took two days to finally get through and I have now dates set up. The one doctor will meet with me over zoom a few days before Christmas.  I also succeeded getting through to a guy to clear snow from my driveway of snow this winter.  I was told he wasn't taking any more clients but when I told him I sat just north of one his other clients he consented to do my drive. Actually they parked in front of my yard last winter to do my neighbors drive.

I keep feeling better.  My face is not sagging anymore so I am looking better.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Tuesday Today.....

My corner of my property has a scrubby -looking pussy willow tree. The neighbor's brand new fence is wonderful.  I hung all my birdhouses in the tree during my last summer's construction.  I never brought them back and didn't see if birds used the houses this summer.  The big spruce blocks the view of them.  I guess I could shake them and see if nests were built in them.

I took a short walk out in the backyard this morning. I keep taking pictures of the cupola because I like it so much.  I built it at the old place inside during the winter in our art gallery area. My father-in-law was still living with us and he was amused watching me shingling it inside the house.  I did place it on my garden shed and it was up there for years until the connecting boards rotted out and I had to take it down.

I created a project today and it is done.  I had an old piece of oak and recycled it from a cabinet that I had to tear up and throw away. I did have to use my miter saw but it was minimal muscle use and I created the legs for it. No nails but a good wood glue helped me put it together.  Your seeing the bad side of the shelf here in this photo.

I needed to consolidate some plants from the other window to this one window.  So I made a shelf for the African violets. Being in the hospital and having to recoup for three weeks has cause the violets to bloom. They didn't get any care and they like that.  I don't recommend hospitalization for encouraging your violets. Anyway, the board works great to elevate the plants into more light and tomorrow I will have the full view of all the plants that I put in that corner window. A Christmas tree is going iin front ofo the other window.

Downstairs the oxalis  is rebounding from being outside. You can see it wishes to be outside  again by the way it is leaning but it is 29 degrees F. out there.

Thank  you for stopping by today. I do feel better but I have to do a lot of resting between small tasks.
