Thursday's Thngs.......

The sun did shine for a little while today but we are now covered with clouds.  We are not so cold but it still is breezy and very damp.

The pussy willow bush/tree is getting a lot of nice textures on it.  I don't know if there is anything that a bird would like to eat from there but maybe after the soft buds fall off there are some seeds.

Down the hill northeasterly is a nice birch tree.  It is in the back yard of the house two houses down from us.  I have one like it across the street in the neighbor's front yard that I watch also to watch its development.

We are 55 degrees F. today.  It does feel a little spring-like until the wind starts to blow I was out this morning in a less congested store, Menards.  I was disappointed in what they had for mattresses. They don't carry any of them in stock anymore.  I wanted to get a couple of twin mattresses for my project but I walked away.  They used to carry a couple of brands and they had them in stock. We bought our beds that we use for visitors bedrooms before but not  this time.  We have a few mattress stores in our city and I will check them out on another day.  There are two very large furniture stores in West Des Moines but I wanted to stay away from the crowds.  Maybe another day I can try to solve the problem.

One of our high school boys up the street was decorated with toilet paper last night. The town has a boys team that is playing in the state tournament.  Usually they de this for their last game of the season and the person is a senior. The boy may be just one of the team members and they are celebrating his teams success.  We live in a big enough city to have two high schools and I am not sure which high school he is from.

Our one high school is called Ankeny Centennial as it is the older original school. The other is called the Ankeny Jaguars.  It was nice that the cheerleaders didn't have to do this decorating in the snow.  I did drive by the front porch and they did really give the railings and posts a lot more toilet paper.
I did see that our big grocery was almost out of toilet paper today because of the scare.  We have cases of the virus in containment.  We were told today that there is not active person out there walking around contaminating people. The government said that they needed to stop hoarding things. People are dumb as the kind of flu in our state that past month has been a coughing flu ad they won't need toilet paper for the new one either.

I retook this photo this morning and you can see all the plants that are coming up now. Grape hyacinth is usually the first but daffodils and tulips will follow.

We too are staying in to a hibernation state of being.  I did go out when there was no one in the stores. If the cashier at the grocery store was sick, he didn't look like it. I talked to one person up close at the Menards store and there too I stayed away from the cashier.  We watch church on tv on Sundays and the flu we did catch 6 weeks ago was probably one that came from our Sunday school  classes or co-worker there. Our coughing from that flu is basically gone.  Our stamina is low but we are building up again.  We both commented to each other yesterday that we could tell our bodies are done with that.
