Stuff on Saturday...

The bridge is now a bridge.  The metal work has been sitting to the side of the work space for a month or so as the concrete support systems were built.  This is the connection of bike trails that lead from south of our town up to the old town that we use to live, where the trestle bridge spans over the Des Moines River.

I snapped the photo from TV last night showing what it looked like the night before as the installed the one full metal framework of the bridge.  They had two large cranes lift it from both ends and lower it down into the slotted parts of the bridge support system.  They closed the road for the night as they worked on the project.  This spans over Oralabor Road, our main street that takes us to all parts of the city. We will be seeing this bridge every time we travel to do a lot of our shopping and dining. Oralabor was the name of a coal mine that use to be int this area.

I have to admit that sometimes patience doesn't always prove to be profitable.  I went to take a photo of the moon late last night and it was covered with a thick mesh of clouds.

Sometimes the moon could not be seen behind any of the clouds. Then as they moved around there was a tease of the sight of the moon showing through just for seconds.

Then for a brief few seconds I got a break as the moon showed through the clouds. You can see a black spot at the top where the clouds were just about to cover the view again. I hear we are to have a eclipse on Sunday. The weather will have to be good or we won't see it.

It has been a busy day for us and it has warmed up again this afternoon. Summer is here for sure.  Thanks for checking in......

I spent a few hours watching the eclipse Sunday night, it was pretty neat!

Cool bridge! Looks like a good thing for bicyclers and pedestrians!
