The Thursday''s Things

It feels like a Friday but Thursday it is. I did odd jobs around the place and now need to rest. I took photos as my stock was getting to be so same o, same o.

One of my new iris starts comes from a company in Oregon. I think we have somewhat similar weather as this one just burst out with growth everywhere as soon as I planted it. I keep adding a little dirt until it is just right in the ground. I bet it will bloom next season with it growing out this much.

I will be collecting seed very soon of the redder morning glory. They seem to be ready but I like to wait until after the first frost. The glob with the splaying-out parts, that is on the right of the photo, will have a lease four seeds. They are black and hard and will be great for reseeding. They suggest one should soak the seeds overnight before trying to plant them..

We had earlier hot, drought-like weather so they didn't vine very well this season. I didn't water them as well as I should have so it is partially my fault. That lattice has been covered with vines in previous years but not this year.

The dinner plate hibiscus has bloomed all summer. I kept it watered all summer because it sits right next to my rainwater collection barrel. I see in the photo that there are two more buds.

I am getting my battery charged up for the truck so I can drive to the northern part of the city. I can dump all my paper bags of recycle grass and sticks there for free. I don't drive the truck enough to keep the battery up but once charged it will be fine. The battery is only one year old. I had a wee of a time getting the charger to work. I tried to charge it while the battery was still in the truck and I just could not find a good piece of unpainted metal to clamp onto for a ground. Once I got the battery out and ready the charge it just started humming. I won't even put the battery back in for a day to be sure it is fully charged and then that engine on the Toyota Tundra will just roar with power. Lifting the battery out and in is a young man's job but I can get it done. I will take asprin from back pain for a couple of days.

Thanks for checking in today.
